Who are we?
The Friends of Solihull Cricket and Tennis Club has now been in existence for 16 years and we act as a support for cricket, tennis and bowls, also funding general improvements around the complex, primarily for the greater good of life at Marsh Lane. We currently have around 70 members with representation from all three sports and the local neighbourhood.
What do we do?
Over the years the Friends have made contributions to a number of key projects such as the infrastructure of the complex, including the re-wiring, gas central heating, windows replacement and general refurbishment of the main clubhouse. We have also provided financial support to such diverse requirements from grounds maintenance machinery, tree surgery and drive repairs. To name just a few excellent examples of committed funds by the Friends are the Bowling Green irrigation system, the recently refurbished scorebox and contributions towards tennis pavilion and courts.
How do we raise money?
We currently hold a number of social evenings throughout the year where some include entertainment. We also have themed evenings, bingo nights and quizzes. There is always a meal for which a reasonable charge is made. The bar is always open and there is also a raffle and the Draw. You will receive information for each upcoming event in good time, enabling you to notify us of your attendance.
The annual subscription is currently £60.00, where half is returned as prize money, the remainder being used for capital projects as outlined above. Our Draw contains three cash prizes for each month which are drawn at each social evening.
